The tms9980anl is a single-chip 16-bit central processing unit(CPU) which has an 8-bit data bus, on-chip clock, and is packaged in a 40-pin package. the instruction set of the tms9980anl includes the capabilities offered by full minicomputers and is exactly the same as the 9900’s. The unique memory-to-memory architecture of the tms9980anl features multiple register files, resident in memory, which allow faster response to interrupts and increased programming flexibility. The separate bus structure of the tms9980anl simplifies the system design effort. Texas instruments provides a compatible set of MOS and TTL memory and logic function circuits to be used with a tms9980anl system.
